Sophia Webber (Owner)

Sophia picked up a pair of scissors and gave her first haircut at the age of ten. And she has never looked back.

Sophia received her cosmetology license from Brick Vocational School. She regularly attends many continuing education classes that range from cutting and texture to updos and corrective color. With over nine years experience as a professional stylist, Sophia has used her natural talent along with her passion for the industry to establish herself as a respected stylist and business owner.

Sophia's Roots hair salon was opened in July of 2009, and is an eclectic mix of Sophia's own laid back personality and professional edge. With her business savvy and raw talent, Sophia has been able to turn Roots into a successful, family-friendly salon.

Sophia's mentality is "If you love your job, you never work a day in your life" She encourages employees to exhibit individuality and personality. Her beliefs are that passion and motivation are the building blocks to not only a successful career, but a fulfilled life as well.

Ali

Ali is our resident Kevin Murphy educator. Through her work with Kevin Murphy, she has managed to find a way to blend her talent as a stylist with her passion for education. With over 4 years experience, Ali has established herself as a respected stylist specializing in dimensional hair color, Brazilian keratin treatments, men's cuts, and curly hair.

Ali's talent also shines through when it comes to her finishing skills. She excels when it comes to blow drying, smoothing, and styling. Even the most unruly curly hair is no match for Ali's skills. She is also an expert in what is called a "Sewn Updo", which is actually done with a needle and thread. It creates a chic and sexy look that will last all night.

Ali received her cosmetology license from Capri Institute in Brick, NJ. She has used her training at Capri as well as her degree from Ocean County College to push further into the industry and establish herself as a stylist. Ali provides exceptional service to her clients while educating them on hair care and dishing up free professional styling tips.

Anita

Anita has been in the beauty industry for almost 20 years. She was introduced to cosmetology by her cousin at the age of 8. She was given her first beauty kit and the rest was history.

She has attended vocational school since her junior year in high school, and continues her education through many well-known companies such as Redken. Her classes have included hair extensions, dimensional coloring, hilighting, perms, hair painting, and much more.

Anita was groomed to be a master colorist and stylist. Her old school technique has a new school twist which keeps her clients happy. They know they will always get what they long for, while having Anita's professional opinion.

Jen

As a child growing up Jennifer used to always style her mom’s hair and apply make-up for fun. She always had an artistic side of her. She loves to show off her innovativeness especially in up do’s, blow-outs and makeup. She excels in run-way looks, and the experience is one that you may not come by again. She can do simple and elegant for a wedding to a mohawk and party/fun for your Saturday night out. Jennifer finds that doing hair and makeup is an art and creativity is needed to make a person look and feel great.

Jennifer graduated from Capri Institute in Brick town, NJ, in 2007 and she has been doing hair for four and a half years. She has taken educational classes from Redken and many others, including “Blow-Pro” from the Blow Dry Bar Academy. She is also certified in Brazilian Blowout. Jennifer still strives to continue in furthering her education by taking classes.

Maria

Maria has been the Front Desk Receptionist here at Roots since July 2009. It is her pleasure to make sure that the experience you have with us is comfortable, relaxing and meets your needs. She takes pride in providing a welcoming and orderly atmosphere for all of our clients. Maria has gone through training in April of 2011 through Crystal Focus “Front Desk Doctor” and is now our Certified Guest Service Expert. Maria wanted to deliver you with the up most admiration and continues her education as how to do so.
